State of the Studios Week of March 19th 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Welcome back to the weekly look at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. All Parks are experiencing large crowds due to spring break guests.  Informative links to keep fans in- the- know follow these articles at the bottom.

Take note that the ”Stage” parking section is still under partial construction.  The new vehicle entrance paved drives look better almost weekly as crews complete the new entrance way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Meanwhile, the Skyliner Gondola construction is still going strong as shown in the updated pictures below.

This week guests were amazed to discover that construction walls were pushed back further at Toy Story Land providing park goers an even better look at the Slinky Dog Dash attraction and other toy-filled land structures. Disney has planted trees near the restroom area as part of the ongoing landscape enhancement. One step closer to the summer opening of this highly-anticipated attraction. Shake off any thoughts of winter and warm up with a great dinner party experience that commemorates the beautiful delights of spring at Hollywood Vine and Dine. Guests can pose for a photo with popular Disney characters, which stop by guest tables to engage in spring time theme activities. For reservations call 407-WDW-DINE now through June 3, 2018.

When shopping here next visit check out the main merchandise display inside the entrance which is focused on great gifts for that someone special or treat yourself. Be character chic every day of the week with a Dooney & Burke bag or tote. Why not a Minnie Mouse jacket for the early spring evenings in the Park. Need a small pillow of Mickey and Minnie sharing a kiss, then shop here…. real soon. Check out the link at the bottom for pictures and video of the merchandise

Marvel fans rejoice:  ahead of the highly anticipated film “Avengers: Infinity War” coming out April 27th, find cool Avengers merchandise available now at Mickey’s of Hollywood. Pop figures of Groot and Thanos, along with action figures of Captain America, Rocket Raccoon and other super heroes line the racks. Collect all the figures to build your own super hero team! There are Marvel mugs, shirts, and so much for the Marvel fan awaiting guests in the store. Check out the link below for full coverage of the merchandise.

As mentioned back on Saturday 3/10, the Studios extended operating hours to 9pm. With this good news for evening park goers  comes accompanying attraction and entertainment schedule updates. The March of the First Order now has Captain Phasma leading her Storm troopers squad for the final day’s march at 5pm instead of 4pm. Enjoy Star Wars A Galaxy Far Far Away’s last daily event now at 6:00pm. Why not take in the Frozen Sing Along extra evening show at 7:30pm that is added for your singing enjoyment. Fantasmic launches now at 8:30 pm, along with the night time Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular exploding in the sky above at 9:15pm.

 

Guests will discover this week at Walt Disney Presents, where young and old discover the man behind the mouse, that the 15 minute heartfelt film tribute to Walt Disney, hosted by Julie Andrews, has returned to the theatre. The special sneak peak of a Wrinkle In Time, based upon Madeleine L’ Engle’s classic, has departed the screen.

A memorable billboard departs… the original billboard that advertised honey I shrunk the kids,   visible  to guests since the 1990’s, has been replaced with an American idol billboard.

The Millennium Falcon captain’s arrival has caused the recent rearrangement of merchandise inside the Star Wars Launch Bay Cargo. The Skywalker winery wine has shifted to a back shelf to make way for brand new merchandise just in time for the Solo movie coming May 2018. This smuggler, scoundrel, & hero features his selection of shirts in the left side of the store. Shoppers can select from a number of clothing styles that are complimented by artistic paintings for sale. Check out the link below for full coverage of the merchandise.

Look closely to spot the brand new posters on top of The Little Mermaid building that promote The Last Jedi coming out on Blu Ray and Digital this month. These posters include one with the light side and the other with the dark side. Included are favorite characters from each side of The Force along with the release dates of the movie.  Check out the link below for full coverage of the posters.

 

This week’s look at Batuu is interesting as construction crews continue closing in the back of the main building, wielding metal, and various crane work.
