State of the Studios Address Week of September 3, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Construction activity continues on the   Park’s future main entrance roadway as well as in additional vehicle parking areas. As evident in the brand new photos below, the future ticket plaza is undergoing painting while access roadway leading from Osceola Parkway has been paved. Crews continue to complete their work on a broad expanse of new paved parking spaces yet to be opened. For guests traveling by Disney resort buses, temporary arrival and departure continues from the newly opened charter bus pick up area. Large shade umbrellas are present in the temporary resort bus cues to help comfort waiting riders. Meanwhile, photos below depict the ongoing work to complete the permanent resort bus guest loading and unloading cues while other crews are finalizing the demolition of the original resort bus arrival and departure locations. Workers continue construction activity on the Park’s Skyliner station. Ceiling and conduit work is visible in the brand new photos below, while others work on the surrounding soil. When completed, this gondola transportation system will wisk guests to and from the park from both EPCOT and various resorts. Click on the link below for full coverage.

New park hours for guests were effective Monday August 27, 2018. Daily 9 am to 9 pm operating hours began August 27 and will continue through September 2, with Extra Magic Hours 8am to 9 am every morning for Disney resort guests. Beginning Labor Day September 3 through September 14, the Park will entertain guests from 9am to 8:30 pm. The popular Extra Magic Hours switch to Sunday mornings 8 am to 9 am. For September 15 and 16, guests can enjoy an extra half hour of fun on each of these days with a 9 pm closing. For the remainder of September, plan on a 9 am to 8 pm operating schedule, except for a few later closings (8:30 pm on September 21-23, and 9 pm on September 29). Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular fireworks will normally begin thirty minutes after park closing. Guest should keep in mind that all Hollywood Studios park schedules are subject change.

Guests looking to interact with the lovable Pluto will now find him posing with them for photos and signing their autograph books just outside of the ABC Commissary. This Commissary Lane location is temporary while crews refurbish  Pluto’s regular meet and greet spot in the Animation Courtyard  August 28 -30. Meanwhile, the Disney Junior characters remain in the Animation Courtyard to interact with guests.

Disney’s Backlot Express counter service location has modified some guest table seating inside the restaurant near the entrance from Star Tours. Two existing wooden high top tables and chairs have been replaced with conventional round table seating. In addition, two metal outdoor style high top dining tables each with seating for two were added in an adjoining section.

Two new giant billboards overlooking the Park’s Animation Courtyard announce upcoming media release dates for the motion picture Solo: A Star Wars Story. Beginning September 14, 2018, fans can purchase the digital version. The Blu-Ray release date places this film version on store shelves beginning September 25, 2018. Smaller corresponding lamp post banners previous announcing the film’s debut in theatres have been tagged with the updated digital and Blu-Ray release dates.

Workers continue to make steady progress toward completion of the Planet Batuu mountain scape outer surfaces. Photos below also reveal further exterior painting of the Muppet 3-D Vision building that will border the new Land.
