State of the Studios Address Week of September 24, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Construction crews continue a steady pace of work on the Park’s Skyliner loading and unloading station as pictured below. Additional yellow wall sheeting is being installed. A new red colored gondola vehicle wrapped in a protective cover has been positioned on a platform. Click the link below for full coverage. 

Crews are busy completing site work surrounding the future Disney resort bus arrival and departure structure. Construction equipment can be seen in motion in the photos below. Excavations are also underway to install large concrete piping in the previous guest tram lane area. Click the link below for full coverage.

Shoppers can select from new merchandise available in The Cover Story and in Celebrity Five and Dime this week. Toy Story themed cell phone covers with the characters experiencing different attractions in the Magic Kingdom are on shelves. Likewise, guests have a wide choice of colorful beverage cups awaiting in Celebrity Five and Dime. Mug designs with colorful themes  featuring Cars, Beauty and the Beast, Mickey and Minnie among others are available. 

Star Wars merchandise at this retail location has given way to a vast array of Disney themed Halloween costumes and merchandise for the spooking season. Shoppers will find Marvel, Nightmare Before Christmas, Star Wars, and Princess themed costume selections sure to delight any child. This Halloween merchandise is similar to the previously described selections at Mickey’s of Hollywood (click here to view full array). Star Wars merchandise shoppers will find construction walls throughout this retail location during the renovation work. Limited merchandise is still available for purchase and has been temporarily positioned in the Amazing Photos location. With the Droid Factory also removed for this work, guests can anticipate a remodeled Tatooine Traders back in full operation in October 2018. 

Star Wars fans eager for the Planet Batuu’s opening can view the latest construction efforts in the photos below. Roof covering of the main temple roof surface has been completed. An American flag now positioned atop a high metal structure signifies the crews topping out of that work. Construction efforts include placement of grass and snow surfaces of various mountain ranges.
