State of the Studios Address Week of October 1st, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Work continues on the Park’s future Skyliner arrival and departure station. Crews were busy with a cement pour adding concrete to the outdoor deck structure. Click the link below for full coverage.

Crews continue to make progress on new guest arrival areas. As pictured below, site work continues around the future Disney resort bus passenger loading and unloading steel structure. Additional paving of new guest parking continues in the former handicap parking location. Click the link below for full coverage.

Adrian & Edith’s Head To Toe store that was connected to the Celebrity Five and Dime on Hollywood Blvd. has closed to guests. The store’s original selection of Mickey ears and themed hats are now available to shoppers on The Cover Story shelves. No word from Disney yet regarding future plans for the Adrian & Edith location.

The original Pixar Place is transforming into a new  Metroville city block for guest enjoyment. Beginning January 18, 2019, visitors will meet super suit designer Edna Mode and see some of her greatest creations in this renovated area. At the end of this  new Metroville, quests will be able to celebrate the heroic deeds of Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, as well as Frozone, who will all be making appearances in the midst of a festive party featuring music, dancing, and interactive game excitement. 

The last day for guests to meet and greet Star Lord and Groot was Saturday, September 29. After the temporary renovation of this location inside Walt Disney Presents is completed, guests can plan to meet Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc. beginning January 18, 2019.

The Park’s center stage is now absent the popular Star Wars characters as this outdoor scheduled daily show Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away has yielded to planned sidewalk construction. The stage show suspended performances on September 30, 2018, to allow for concrete work to begin in this location. However, fans will once again enjoy the daily performances  when  the show resumes later this fall in November.

 

Construction crews are working to finish the exterior of the Planet Batuu mountainous terrain as a crane delivers material high above.  Scaffolding can still be seen surrounding some of the highest mountain peaks nearing completion while workers have installed a white roofing base material on a circular roof.
