State of the Studios Address Week of April 1, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Guests will be able to become rookie racers beginning today, March 31, 2019 as the new Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy opens. Located in the Sunset Showcase at the end of Sunset Blvd, the Piston Cup Champion Lightning McQueen shares his racing experiences on stage as a large-scale animatronic during the ten minute show. Guests can continue their adventure in the adjoining courtyard with a photo op with Cruz as well as a dance experience with DJ.

The main sign has been placed for the scheduled March 30, 2019 opening of the Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. The Cruz Ramirez guest meet and greet area is visible in the photo below. With the recent opening of the new Disney resort bus terminal areas, construction effort focuses on the former guest tram loading and unloading site. Crews continue fabrication of new structures in addition to completing decorative guest walkways. Some wooden construction barriers near the outside Guest Relations walk up windows have been replaced by portable shrub planters. Click the link below for full coverage.

Crews continue day and night construction efforts to finish the Park’s Skyliner station. Metal safety railing installation and  concrete walkway ramp work is visible. Roof top columns have been added and await painting. Yellow , blue and orange colored gondolas are now visible.

Colorful Disney character themed banners have been placed throughout the Park as part of the 30th Year anniversary celebration.  Guests arriving in the new resort bus terminals are greeted by their favorite characters that adorn many of the lamp posts.

Beginning June 2, 2019, this Fast Casual dining location will be accepting reservations for dining after 4 pm nightly. While walk-ups will still be available, those guests may have longer wait times. In preparation for this dining experience adjustment, refurbishment is still underway inside the restaurant. Lunch service will remain walk-up counter-service only.

Whether ordering a burger or Mediterranean salad for lunch, or selecting between Chimichurri steak or lemon pepper salmon for dinner, menu choice at the ABC commissary just went high tech for diners. The digital menu sign undergoing installation reported here two weeks ago to readers is now glittering above the order counter.
